June 27

Today we left Jerusalem for a four day trip to the Mediterranean and then on to Galilee.

Our first stop was at Caesarea on the Mediterranean. This place was amazing. So many buildings and so much planning went into the development of the site. One thing I have concluded - Herod was an awful king and leader, but we are still talking about him 2000 years later when we look at Masada, the Herodium and Caesarea. Maybe that is what he wanted.

This is a picture of where Herod's palace was.

This is the likely site of where Paul was when he was meeting with Felix and Agrippa.

This is the site of chariot races during Herod's time. The structure in the middle was not there at that time. Down on the race track, you can see clearly the center of the oval.

This is a view of the Jezreel Valley from Mt Carmel. From this point we could see Mt Tabor which is near Nazareth, Mt Moreh and Mt Gilboa.

Me with the Jezreel Valley in the background.

We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant run by the Druze. We had Falafal and something else in a pita. This was our server.
